About the ANC

An Advisory Neighborhood Commission is a non-partisan neighborhood body made up of locally elected representatives called Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners. ANCs hold public meetings and address issues affecting the neighborhood and the District. They are a unique feature of the District’s Home Rule Charter.

Commissioners, who serve two-year terms without pay, are elected in DC elections in November in even-numbered years. ANCs were established to bring government closer to the people, and to bring the people closer to government.

ANC 4B extends from Georgia Avenue to the West; Eastern Avenue to the East; and Missouri Avenue, Riggs Road, South Dakota Avenue, and Kennedy Street to the South. If you are unsure of which ANC you live in, check here.

ANC Meeting Accessibility

ANC 4B strives to host inclusive, accessible meetings that enable all individuals to engage fully. The Commission uses Zoom for virtual meetings, which includes automated captions, and attendees can ask questions and participate through the raise hands function to speak by video or audio, the meeting chat, or the question and answer feature. To request an accommodation like language interpretation or for inquiries about accessibility, please email the Commission’s Chair and Secretary. We ask for 72 hours notice for all requests, if possible. The Commission will try to honor all requests for meeting accommodations to the best of the Commission’s ability.
